Return of the Flying Sub

I you'll recall about a month ago we discussed all things Flying Sub (see THIS POST )

Now our good friends at Aviation Week have decided to weigh in with their two pence about the prospects of an actual working Flying Submarine, or as DARPA refers to it, a "Submersible Airplane".

Still no mention from them of the "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" flying sub...perhaps the coolest thing ever to appear on TV besides a bra-less Jaclyn Smith.

Pearls before swine...I tell ya'.

Awsomely Bad TV, Jack of All Trades

Yeah, it's no "Brisco County Jr." and it's certainly not "Army of Darkness", but how could the mighty Bruce Campbell be involved in this?

I know! It's called a paycheck. In my old neighborhood, this came on Sunday nights right after Cleopatra 2525...boy there's a double feature for ya'.

Awsomely Bad TV

I don't know if anyone remembers this TV show but somehow it came up in conversation at work today...Cleopatra 2525

A group of people sat in a room and decided, yeah this is a good idea for a TV show...a stripper exotic dancer gets frozen in the year 2001 and wakes up in the year 2525 to fight a war against robots from their human underground lair.

Flying Subs? Doesn't Anyone Remember Anything?!?

DARPA seeks Special Forces submersible aeroplane
Wet doesn't have to mean slow any more

Say what you like about the US military's technology planners, they don't flinch from a challenge. The latest ploy out of the American warboffinry machine is nothing less than an aircraft which can fly underwater.

The upcoming aerosubmarine plan was announced on Friday, under the rather uninspiring name "Submersible Aircraft". The idea, few regular readers will be surprised to hear, comes from DARPA* - the Pentagon wingnut-tech bureau, which is plainly looking to take the concept of flying below the radar literally to a whole new level...

Love the smart ass tone of the British author. Just for that, you limey prick we're going to make a flying sub and you won't be allowed to use it...so there.

Does Anyone Have an Original Idea?

I guess not.

Warners whips up Banana Splits
Classic kiddie show gets a modern makeover
By SAM THIELMAN

'The Banana Splits'

Warners consumer products division has whipped up a new version of the Banana Splits.
Hanna-Barbera’s 1960s phenom is returning in a multiplatform effort starting Sept. 2, with shorts and musicvideos airing on Cartoon Network and its website. Future efforts will include DVD and audio CD releases, as well as live performances.

Turner Animation’s Stu Snyder noted that the Splits have “been entertaining kids for years,” but the return of the property will capitalize on boomer nostalgia as well. “Go Bananas Your Way,” the new Splits album, is “intended to appeal to kids and parents,” according to the release...

For the entire depressing story go HERE
Why don't you goons go ahead and destroy the rest of my childhood memories while you are at it. What's next the new Jonny Quest?..oh, that's right you've already wrecked that one.

Look out Fat Albert, Josey and the Pussycats, Space Ghost, Scooby Doo, Lancelot Link, Secret Chimp you're next.

Tra, La, La

I can't believe I used to watch this...

My only excuse is we didn't have cable and only had three channels to choose from...I don't remember what was on the other stations but it must have been worse than this...if you can believe it.
