CAV Solider receives the MOH
LTC Bruce Crandall (RET) received the Congressional Medal of Honor from President Bush on 26 FEB 07 in a ceremony in the White House.
There's a little more about it HERE
You can read about his actions in the book We Were Soldiers Once...And Young or watch the Mel Gibson movie. LTC Crandall was in command of the UH-1's from the 229th Aviation Battalion supporting 1-7 CAV that day in Vietnam.
Odd isn't it that LTC Crandall can wear his cavalry stetson to the White House, but I need permission from a General Officer to wear mine in a war zone.
